TISSUES PART 1

What is tissue?

A group of cells having a common origin and performing similar functions are term as tissue.

Now

 Tissue are two type

1. PLANTS  TISSUE

On basis of the dividing capacity.

2.ANIMALS TISSUE

There is two type of plant tissue

1. MERISTEMATIC TISSUE

2. PERMANENT  TISSUE

 MERSTEMATIC TISSUE

Consist of actively dividing  cells,  merstematic  tissue  are of three types:

1. Apical  meristem

Present in the at the growing  tips of stems and root.

To increase  the length of stems and roots.

2. INTERCALARY MERISTEM

Present at  the base of leaves or near the nodes.

For the longitudinal  growth of plants.

3.LATERAL MERISTEM

Present   on the lateral sides of the stems roots.

To increase  the thickness  of stem and root.

  PERMANENT  TISSUE
Formed from merstematic  tissues  the cell in the tissue the cell in the tissue loose the ability  to divide.  Permanent  tissues  are  divided  into  two categories

1. SIMPLE  PERMANENT TISSUE
2. COMPLEX  PERMANENT TISSUE

Simple permanent  tissues
Types of simple  permanent  tissues  are
1. PARENCHYMA —
Composed of  unspecialised cells with relatively  thin cell wall, large intercellular, space Present in the soft part of the plant their main function is storage.
2. COLLENCHYMA —
Composed of living and elongated cells with cell walls and irregularly thickened   at the corners. Very little intercellular space. It provides mechanical support and elasticity to plant. It helps in bending of leaves and stems.

3. SCLERENCHYMA—

Composed of long narrow and thick world cells this tissue is made up of dead cells and there are no intercellular spaces,SCLERENCHYMA  cells are dead, present in seeds nuts, husk of  coconut, fibres jute etc.

Complex permanent tissues  made up of more than one  type of cells ( conducting  tissues)

Types  of complex  permanent tissues

1. XYLEM —

Conduct water and Minerals from the root to the different parts of plant.

Composed of four different types of cells

1. Tracheids

2.vessels

 3. Xylem parenchyma

4. Xylem fibre

PHOLEM—

Conduct food materials from the leaves to the different parts of plant.

composed of four different types of cells

1. Sieve tubes

2. Companion  cells

3. Pholem parenchyma

4. Pholem fibres.
