WHAT IS DEMOCRACY? WHY DEMOCRACY

 

  What is  democracy  ? 

You know  what  are the  features  are there in democracy?

You know  how  many  types of government are there?

  

 What is democracy ? 

 Democracy is a form of government in which  the rulers are elected by the people. 

  

The final decision making power must rest with those elected by the  people 

  

Democracy   must be based on a free and fair election where those in power have a fair chance of losing. 

 

In a democracy  each adult citizen  must have one vote  . All votes must have one value.

 

A democratic government  should rule  with in limits set by constitutional  law and citizen rights. 

  

Leaders keep changing  In a democracy which may lead to instability.

  

Democracy  is about  political  competition  and power play . In this  scenario morality might take a backseat.

  

  

 Constitution  of a huge numbers of people leads to delays in decision  making. Elected  leaders  may not  know the best interests of the people . It might lead to bad decision.

 Democracy  is a accountable  form and government  democracy  provides  a method to deal with differences  and conflicts peacefully.

 

Democracy enhances the dignity of all the citizens  living in a country . Democracy allows a society and government  to correct its own mistakes.

Representative democracy is the  common form of government as it is difficult  to assemble  at a large number of activities  in a single  place. 

Not all citizen  might  be interested  to take part in a democracy. This is an other reason for optioningfor a Representative  democracy. 

 Democratic principles  can be adopted  in our social  and offence.
