WHAT IS CALAVLRY ?
Over the centuries many soldiers have ridden horses to get from place to place. Cavalry are soldiers who fight on horseback. Before the days of motor vehicles cavalry were the only mobile force a General could use.
THE FIRST CAVALRY
The fierce tribesmen of Central Asia, who spent most of the leaves in the saddle where among the earliest effective cavalry. From them Warrior such as Cyrus king of the Persia 2500 years ago, learned the art of Mounted Warfare. Alexander the Great made good use of cavalry when he began conquering land in Asia where there Wide Flat Plains to charge over. The stirrup came into use from about the third century and his made riding much easier.
THE MIDDLE AGES
In the middle ages night in Armour used to fight on horseback but the weight of their amour greatly Limited both their speed and their movement cavalry came back into their own when heavy or more was discarded in the 16th century.
Cavalry was most effective in battle in the 18th and 19th century the cavalry charged relied on the speed and shock to the break through Enemy Lines men and horses years levelled or swords flashing thunder down on their opponents faced with a charge many groups of infantry foots - soldiers broke ranks and feld.
This military tactic was used by many European army at this time but particularly skillfully by the Prussian Army under fredrick the great and the French Army under Napoleon I .
